Hanson's Strong Weekend Earns him Defenseman of the Week Honors

SIOUX CITY, IA - Today Sioux City Musketeers defenseman Ty Hanson was named the USHL Defenseman of the Week.

This is the first player of the week honor for Ty Hanson. At the conclusion of the 2022-23 season, Hanson was named USHL Second Team All-Rookie.

To earn this award, Hanson was a large contributor to the Musketeers two game sweep of the USNTDP over the weekend. He scored a goal in the first game of the series, and tallied three assists in game two for four total points across the two victories. He finished the weekend with a plus-minus of +5.

Through only 8 games played, Hanson is tied for the second most points scored on the team with six, via one goal and five assists. Numbers that lead all Sioux City defensemen. The Hermantown, Minnesota native also leads all Sioux City defensemen with a plus-minus of +7.

Last season, the University of Minnesota Duluth commit played in 54 games and scored four goals with 21 assists, for 25 total points and finished with a plus-minus of +4.

Sioux City hits the ice, at home on Tuesday, October 17th for the Empirical Foods School Day Game. Puck drop against the Sioux Falls Stampede is at 11:00 am. They will be at home again on Saturday, October 21st for the UnityPoint Health Pink in the Rink game against the Lincoln Stars with puck drop scheduled for 6:05 pm.
