Hankerd Continues to Rake as BayBears Cruise Past Suns

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Cyle Hankerd's hot hitting continued on Sunday at the Baseball Grounds as he helped the BayBears to a 5-3 victory over the Jacksonville Suns, giving Mobile the series victory.

Hankerd's two-run double in the first inning put the BayBears (16-8) on top as James Skelton and Gerardo Parra scampered home. Hankerd then touched the dish after a soft single to right off the bat of Mark Hallberg.

Barry Enright (1-1) was staked with the lead and did his part to hold it, allowing two runs on five hits over 5.1 innings. In the third, the BayBears added a run to their advantage as Parra singled and took third on another two-bagger by Hankerd. A grounder to second was kicked by Kevin Randel allowing Parra to score the BayBears' fourth tally.

Enright was scored upon with single runs in the third and fourth innings. A sac fly by Chris De La Cruz put Jacksonville (13-11) on the board while Andy Jenkins' fourth-inning RBI single cut the BayBear lead in half.

Each club added a run later in the contest with Hankerd scoring on a base hit up the middle by Yunesky Sanchez. Hankerd is 11-for-17 so far in this series with three homers, 10 RBI and six runs scored.
