Corpus Christi, TX- The Montreal Alouettes', of the Canadian Football League, offensive line just got a little better. Why should you care you ask? Unfortunately for the Corpus Christi Hammerheads, they're better because they just signed Hammerheads Center Jonathan Schall. At only 23, Schall, originally from Ohio, has a promising career in football ahead of him. The offense line MVP in 2003 at Pittsburgh University, Schall also worked out for the Cincinnati Bengals at the beginning of the 2004 season. Upon arriving in Texas John was asked what he did for a living to which he replied, "I'm a Hammerhead." That sentence spoke volumes as offensive lineman is not much for words as he usually lets his play do the talking. At 6'4" 300 pounds, he was rightly nicknamed "Big John" during his short stint with the Hammerheads, he will be missed by his Hammerhead comrades. John's combination of size, surprising quickness, and great football intelligence is a rarity and is like football gold. Coach Jason McKinley knew that he had found something special in John Schall once he saw what he could do on the football field. "He should be in the NFL right now the way he's playing," McKinley said after the first few days of Hammerheads camp.
This signing just goes to show you the quality of players that the Hammerheads have out there one the field this year. Although the organization hates to lose these very talented players, such as Schall, the ultimate goal is to be viewed as a stepping-stone to the next level by those same very talented athletes in the future.
The Hammerheads Organization is proud to have been the birthplace of a promising career for a first class person, as well as first class athlete, and wishes Big John all the luck in the world as he embarks on an important journey and the next level in his career.
