Maulers to play two games this weekend
April 6, 2005 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
Montgomery Bears News Release
The Montgomery Maulers will play two road games this weekend due to a scheduling change by the National Indoor Football League (NIFL).
The Maulers will play Saturday at 7:00m CT against the River City Rage in St. Louis as originally planned, but instead of returning home after the game, the Maulers will travel to Dayton, Ohio to play the Dayton Warbirds on Sunday at 4:00pm CT. Both games will be carried live on WVAS-FM 90.7.
The league recently welcomed Dayton into the league to help teams cut down on travel. By adding the new game against Dayton, the Maulers will not have to travel across the country to Kennewick, WA on May 27 to play the Tri-Cities Fever.
"I've played two games in one weekend before so this is nothing new to me," said Maulers head coach James Shiver, who experienced double headers as an offensive coordinator with the Lake Charles (LA) Landsharks. "I'll bring extra players on the road trip in case of injuries, but we'll be ready to go for both games."
The change will not affect any of the Maulers home games. The Maulers next home game is Saturday, April 23 at 7:30pm CT against the Fayetteville Guard.
An expansion franchise in the National Indoor Football League (NIFL), the Maulers offer hard-hitting, high-scoring, "edge of your seat" excitement at historic Garrett Coliseum. Single game tickets start at $7 and can be purchased at the Garrett Coliseum box office, the Maulers retail shop at Eastdale Mall, by calling TicketMaster at (800) 277-1700 or on the internet at www.ticketmaster.com.
