Hawgs announce schedule changes

Daytona Beach Hawgs News Release

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Due to the recent addition of the Dayton Warbirds into the National Indoor Football League, the Daytona Beach Hawgs schedule will see some minor schedule modifications that will affect several away games and change the opponent for two home games.

Instead of the Montana Mavericks, the Hawgs will now face Larry Little and the Miami Morays on Monday, April 11 at 7:05 in the Ocean Center. The April 24 opponent will be the Rome Renegades and not the Wyoming Cavalry.

Daytona Beach will now face the Morays three times this season, including a second Ocean Center date on May 7. Miami will come to Daytona Beach just 48 hours after facing the Lakeland Thunderbolts on Saturday, April 9.

"The league-wide schedule modifications will have little to no effect on our fans," said Daytona Beach Head Coach/General Manager Ervin Bryson. "We still have six home games left on the same days listed. Our Bethune-Cookman College friends get another chance to see Coach Little, so that's" a good thing. I don't think there are many Wyoming Cavalry fans in the area, either."

The Hawgs will not go to Lubbock, Texas on June 18 as previously scheduled, instead ending the regular season on the road July 4 against the Cavalry in Casper, Wyoming. The date of the road trip to Everett, Washington has been moved back a day to Saturday, May 28.

The Dayton Warbirds were scheduled to play in the United Indoor Football league this season, but were suspended from the league due to ownership problems. After a league wide vote, the NIFL adopted the Dayton Warbirds with a new ownership group.

"Bringing in Dayton at this point in the season allows the NIFL the reschedule games that will help ease the high travel costs associated with the original schedule." NIFL President Carolyn Shiver said.
