Hammerheads win in rain-shortened game

JUPITER, FL- The Jupiter Hammerheads (25-32) beat the Palm Beach Cardinals (24-30) by a score of 3-1 tonight at Roger Dean Stadium. The game was called in the top of the sixth inning because of heavy rain and unplayable field conditions.

Burke Badenhop (ND) retired all 14 batters he faced tonight to lead the Hammerheads to their second straight win. Badenhop went four 2/3 innings and struck out two batters. He was on a 55 pitch count limit and is with the club on a Major League Rehab Assignment. Jupiter scored three runs in the third inning off of David Kopp (5-3) to sink Palm Beach. Louis Ott singled to left field to score Ryan Curry to get the Hammerheads on the scoreboard. Tim Torres would add another run on a fielding error by second baseman Oliver Marmol and Ben Harrison singled two at-bats later to score Ott.

Jupiter wraps up their four-game series with Palm Beach tomorrow at Roger Dean Stadium. Tom Koehler will get the start for the Hammerheads and will seek his fourth straight win. First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 PM.
