
Hammerheads Walk-Off the Mets

Jupiter Hammerheads News Release
In walk-off fashion, the Jupiter Hammerheads take Wednesday night's game over the St. Lucie Mets by a score of 5-4. Zach Zubia scored the winning run in the 10th inning as Jupiter snaps St. Lucie's seven-game winning streak.
Jupiter was the first team to score when they plated one run in the first inning. Jose Salas scored as Ian Lewis reached on an error by the Mets. In the fourth, the Hammerheads would add to their lead and score three more runs. Zubia drove in Brady Allen and Osiris Johnson with a sharp two-RBI single. The former Texas Longhorn now has 14 RBIs on the season. Jorge Caballero would also drive in a run to give the Hammerheads a 4-0 lead.
Trailing 4-0, the Mets roared back with three runs in the sixth and another run in the seventh. In the sixth, Carlos Dominguez connected for his 12th homer of the year. In the seventh. Then in the seventh, Stanley Consuegra hit a solo home run to tie the game up at four.
With the score deadlocked at four, the Hammerheads had a chance to win it in the ninth. Jupiter loaded the bases with two outs but was unable to break through. Instead, Jupiter won it in the next inning when Zubia came home on a wild pitch from the Mets.
Three Hammerheads finished with a multi-hit night as the team collected 11 hits. Salas and catcher Sam Praytor each tallied two hits, while left fielder Jorge Caballero finished the night 3-4 with three singles.
On the mound, Luis Palacios made his eighth start of the season. The southpaw worked seven innings for the Hammerheads. The Venezuelan allowed just five hits and struck out four batters on the night.
In relief, the Hammerheads first turned to Patrick Murphy. The lefty pitched two scoreless innings while allowing just one hit. Murphy struck out two batters. To close the game, Jake Schrand entered the game. The Wright State product pitched a perfect tenth inning and struck out the side.
