Hammerheads Split Series with Threshers

JUPITER, FL- The Hammerheads won an offensive battle today, beating the Threshers by a score of 12-7. Jupiter scored five runs in the fifth inning to overcome a 7-6 deficit. Catcher John Purdom hit a two-run home run to give Jupiter the lead. He finished one for four with two RBI and a run scored. Scott Cousins also hit a two run home run, which was his eighth of the season. He was three for five with three RBI and three runs scored. Spike McDougall also had a terrific game, going three for three with two RBI.

Justin Miller, who is with Jupiter on a Major League Rehab Assignment, pitched a scoreless fifth inning in relief to pick up the victory. Hammerheads starter Jeff Allison started out well, but had to leave the game in the second inning after being hit in the leg with a line drive.

Jupiter will travel to St. Lucie to take on the Mets for a three game series. Graham Taylor is scheduled to start for Jupiter tomorrow. The Hammerheads will return to Roger Dean Stadium July 28th to take on the Vero Beach Devil Rays.
