Jupiter Hammerheads News Release
JUPITER, Fla. - Isaac Galloway went 3-for-4, leading the Hammerheads to a 5-3 win over the Dunedin Blue Jays in their series opener Sunday afternoon at Roger Dean Stadium.
Wilfredo Gimenez drove in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning to make it 4-3. He scored on the next play, a single by Austin Barnes, to increase the lead to two runs.
RHP Ronald Barnes relieved RHP Kevin Cravey-who allowed the first two base runners in the ninth to reach-to secure his first save of the season.
Jupiter pounded out 13 hits in victory, including three off the bat of leadoff hitter Galloway-his second straight three-hit game. With eight hits in his last 12 at-bats, Galloway's batting average has climbed 56 points in three games.
Austin Barnes went 4-for-5 with two RBI from the two-hole, extending his hitting streak to eight games. Jupiter's catcher and designated hitter is hitting .515 (17-for-33) since last Friday, raising his batting average 112 points to a team-leading .362.
Jake Marisnick went 1-for-5 with a double and a run scored. He also made a spectacular, diving catch in center field. The Marlins' fourth-best prospect according to Baseball America, Marisnick broke his hand in Spring Training before making his 2013 debut today as Jupiter's No. 3 hitter.
RHP Josh Hodges pitched five scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and one walk, lowering his season ERA to 2.66 in 23.2 innings.
Including Hodges' five shutout innings, Hammerheads starting pitchers have a 2.18 ERA and 1.02 WHIP in 107.1 innings (23 starts) this season.
RHP Anthony DeSclafani-who has yet to allow an earned run in 15.2 innings-will look to continue his dominating performance Monday night against Dunedin's RHP Casey Lawrence.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. at Roger Dean Stadium.
