CLEARWATER, Fla. (April 28, 2013) - The Fort Myers Miracle withstood a furious ninth inning rally to defeat the Clearwater Threshers 8-7 on Sunday at Bright House Field.

The Miracle took an 8-2 lead into the final frame but the Threshers scored five runs off of Adrian Salcedo, including two two-run homers to cut the lead to one run. Salcedo settled down to strike out Kyrell Hudson to end the game and give the Miracle their fifth consecutive win. The team won 12 games in a row earlier this month.

In his second start for the Miracle since being called up from Cedar Rapids, Taylor Rogers (2-0) went eight innings, allowing three runs and five hits. He cruised for most of the game and at one point retired 11 batters in a row. He faced one over the minimum through the first six innings before giving up a pair of runs in the seventh.

While Rogers was plugging along, the Miracle offense came to life late in the game. Angel Morales belted a solo homer in the third, but it wasn't until the seventh that the Miracle took command. They pounded reliever Colby Shreve for five runs and six hits to make it 7-0. Eddie Rosario doubled home a run in the inning and Miguel Sano capped off the scoring with an RBI triple high off the wall in center.

After the Threshers scored two in the bottom of the inning, Rosario blasted a solo homer with two outs in the eighth to put the Miracle ahead 8-2.

Rosario's homer proved to be important. Rogers came out to pitch in the bottom of the ninth but was lifted after giving up a leadoff double to Jose Mojica. Salcedo entered the game and Maikel Franco greeted him with a two-run homer.

Harold Martinez kept the rally going with a two-out infield single and Josh Ludy followed him with another two-run homer, cutting the lead to one. However, it only took Salcedo three pitches to strike out Hudson to end it.

The Miracle (19-4) and Threshers (11-12) will resume their four-game series in Clearwater on Monday at 7 p.m. The game can be heard on Fox Sports 1350 AM in Fort Myers or worldwide on www.miraclebaseball.com. The Square One Burgers and Bar pregame show with Adam MacDonald begins at 6:45 p.m.
