JUPITER, Fla. (August 14, 2012) - The Fort Myers Miracle lost 6-2 to the Jupiter Hammerheads in Tuesday's series opener at Roger Dean Stadium.

Fort Myers scored first in the top of the third inning with two outs. After a swinging strike three, Lance Ray reached first on a wild pitch by Jupiter starter Robert Morey. The next hitter, Josmil Pinto, laced a double down the left field line to plate Ray from first base.

In the bottom of the third, the Hammerheads tied the game off Miracle starter Kyle Gibson. Making a rehabilitation start after elbow surgery in September of 2011, the 2009 Minnesota Twins first round draft pick allowed a lead-off single to Terrence Dayleg then a double to Christian Yelich.

Marcell Ozuna grounded out to third scoring Dayleg to tie the game, 1-1. Gibson then retired the next two hitters to strand Yelich at third base. Gibson exited after three innings with one run given up on three hits, a strikeout, a walk, and three men left on base.

For the Miracle, Madison Boer entered the game in the fourth and the Hammerheads plated two runs on a pair of two-out extra-base hits. Taylor Krick doubled into right center to score J.T. Realmuto and Dayleg then tripled in Krick to push the lead to 3-1.

The Hammerheads added three more runs in the sixth inning on four hits including runs batted in from Krick, Dayleg and Ozuna.

Danny Ortiz hit a solo homerun for Fort Myers in the eighth inning, but the Hammerhead bullpen held off the Miracle in the final five outs.

Pinto went 3-for-4 with a run batted in and a walk. Daniel Santana also recorded a multi-hit game with a 2-for-5 night. Boer (6-10) was the losing pitcher and Morey (7-3) earned the win with Michael Brady picking up his 19th save in the ninth inning.

The Miracle (51-67, 23-28) return to Roger Dean Stadium for a 6:35 p.m. first pitch against Jupiter (61-58, 25-24) on Wednesday evening. The game can be heard on www.miraclebaseball.com with the "Voice of the Miracle" Brice Zimmerman with the State Farm pregame show hitting the air at 6:20 p.m.
