Hammerheads fall to Swashbucklers

Hammerheads start out strong with a touchdown in the first few minutes of the game. Mike Green carries the ball into the end zone for a touchdown, Omar Moreno kicks for the extra point and it is 7-0 Hammerheads draw first blood of the night.

Swashbucklers return to almost score, but is returned to the 8 yard line. Hammerheads cross the line of scrimmage moving the ball up to their own 2 yard line. Ball is snapped and Pierce carries the ball in for a Swashbuckler touchdown. The extra point is good for a tied up ballgame @ 7-7 in the first quarter.

Hammerheads turning right around and Green scores within minutes to put the Hammerheads back into the lead. Moreno kicks the extra point and we are back @ 14-7. Moreno kicks the ball to the Swashbucklers and Barnes stops them at the 15 yard line. Pierce carries the ball a little further and that is as far as he gets at the end of the first quarter. Hammerheads 14 and the Swashbucklers 7.

Opening the second quarter the Swashbucklers breakout and score bringing the score 14-13. Swashbucklers miss the extra point and the score remains 14-13.

Harrington and Green come off with a razzle dazzle and proceed down field to the 2 yard line. 11:58 minutes left in the second quarter, Green runs in for another touchdown and Moreno getting the extra point brings the score stretching out a little further to Hammerheads 21 – Swashbucklers 13.

Swashbucklers Martin receives the ball and runs it in for a touchdown with the extra point brings the game a little closer @ 21-20. After receiving the ball it is taken down until a penalty against the hammerheads bringing the ball to the Swashbucklers 14 yard line. The ball is kicked and fumbled by Swashbucklers, then recovered by our own Hammerheads. Eddy Miller carries the ball, but is stopped just short of a touchdown bringing the 2 minute warning sound at a score of 21-20. Hammerheads attack on down the field and with 14 seconds left score again showing the Swashbucklers how it feels to be attacked by a Hammerhead 28-20. Another play gets underway and Salas intercepts the ball within seconds of the clock running out and that will bring a close to the 2nd quarter.

3rd quarter starts off good for the Hammerheads as Green runs in for another touchdown and Moreno with the extra point for a 35-20 lead. Retuning the ball Swashbucklers Martin runs in for his 3rd touchdown of the evening with the extra point narrowing the gap to 35-27.

On the kick return the ball hits the scoreboard and puts the ball in play on the 20 yard line. From there Dossett runs in for a touchdown and once again Moreno aces the extra point and the score is now 42-27.

Kickoff once again hits the scoreboard, but is place on the 25 yard line for the swashbucklers. From there Martin runs it in for another touchdown. Extra point good and score is now 42-34 Hammerheads winning! With a minute and 40 seconds Eddy miller scores his first touchdown of the night and the extra point jumping the Hammerheads to a 49-34 lead.

After several attempts in this run for a score the Swashbucklers get the touchdown, but fail at the 2 point conversion attempt bringing the score to 49-40. While on a roll they score again, in the 3rd quarter for a score 49-47.

Without missing a beat the Hammerheads jump back for another touchdown and bring the score to 56-47. A few plays later, miller drops the ball and swashbucklers gain possession at our 15 yard line. Without much resistance they score turning the Hammerheads lead over to the Swashbucklers 61-56.

On the kickoff return Eddy Miller takes the ball down field. Next play Green carries to the 12 yard line . With 48 seconds to game, Harrington throws for an incomplete pass. Now 35 seconds on the 12 yard line. Green carries to the 2 yard line. Green tries to get in. Penalty on the field Swashbucklers holding, ball moves to the 1 yard line. Green tries to get in an is stopped with 1 second on the clock at the 2 yard line. The ball is snapped and the attempt fails, putting the Hammerheads short of a winning touchdown.

Swashbucklers take the game and walk away with a victory.
