JUPITER, Fla. (June 8, 2014) - Jupiter starter Trevor Williams out-dueled Jason Wheeler in a 3-2 win for the Hammerheads over the Fort Myers Miracle on Sunday evening at Roger Dean Stadium.

Williams (6-4) went eight scoreless innings with just four hits allowed and tallied three strikeouts. Williams faced just two over the minimum, Hammerheads defense turned three double plays.

After seven innings, Wheeler (5-5) had battled Williams to a 0-0 tie. Yielding just three hits and striking out eight in the first seven, Wheeler started the eighth against the left-handed hitting Ryan Goetz. On a 3-1 pitch, Goetz singled into right center and Miracle manager went to the bullpen.

Brandon Peterson entered the game as a reliever for the Miracle. Peterson got Josh Adams to ground out to short, but Goetz advanced to second. Then, Anthony Gomez hit a soft line drive up the middle to bring in Goetz and break a scoreless tie, 1-0.

Blake Barber followed with a double down the third base line to plate Gomez and push the Jupiter lead to 2-0. Peterson exited and Steven Gruver entered for the Miracle. After retiring Colin Moran on a liner to second, Matt Juengel served a two-out base hit into right for a RBI and a 3-0 Hammerhead advantage.

In the ninth, Jupiter reliever Reid Redman replaced Williams. After issuing a lead-off walk to Aderling Mejia, Jorge Polanco launched a two-run homer over the fence in right to get Fort Myers on the board, 3-2. Redman rallied to retire the next three hitters and nail down his third save of the season.
