BRADENTON, FL (June 8, 2014) - McKechnie Field has been harsher to the Stone Crabs than any other ballpark in the Florida State League. Bitter memories of late leads lost and momentum squandered abounded as the division rivals met for the 15th time on Sunday night. Having split the first 14, another classic shaped up, with the Marauders escaping with a 5-4 victory. Another game, and another loss that dropped the Stone Crabs back under the .500 mark.

The evening could not have started any better against Chad Kuhl, with the Stone Crabs showing again they're one of the best early in games. One out singles by Tommy Coyle and Leonardo Reginatto and a walk to Patrick Leonard loaded the bases for Kes Carter. On a 2-1 pitch, the center fielder launched a two-run double to the base of the left center field wall, which placed runners at second and third. Kuhl turned his whole start around and soon got Justin O'Conner and Maxx Tissenbaum to ground out to retire the side.

Bradenton's comeback began in the second against Bruedlin Suero, who retired the first four hitters he faced. A one out single by Jonathan Schwind and an RBI double by Eric Wood cut the deficit in half before Suero got the next two outs to preserve the 2-1 lead. With two outs in the third, a walk to Max Moroff and a single by Josh Bell allowed Jose Osuna to tie the score with an RBI single into right. Another walk to Schwind forced a battle between Suero and Wood with the bases loaded, and it appeared momentarily as if the game would remain tied. The Marauders third baseman blooped a shot into shallow center, but Tommy Coyle had the ball hit his mitt, only for it to fall and score two more runs to make it a 4-2 game.

In the top of the sixth, Leonard's one out double off Kuhl and a walk to Carter put the tying runs on for Tissenbaum. With two outs, he wasted no time in crushing a first pitch fastball back into center field to bring in a run and make it 4-3. Kuhl exited for Josh Smith, and the challenging lefthander struck out Josh Sale on just three pitches to end the inning. After retiring the side in order in the bottom of the fifth, Marcus Jensen surrendered a mammoth home run to Jin-De Jhang on the very first pitch of the sixth. The blast would be costly, and the Marauders had regained a two run advantage.

The `Crabs bit back against Pat Ludwig in the eighth. With two outs and Leonard at first following a fielder's choice groundout, O'Conner skied a double over the head of Jeff Roy in center to once again bring the Stone Crabs back to within a run at 5-4. When Ludwig returned for the ninth, he made it interesting following a leadoff single by Sale and a walk to Tyler Goeddel. With two chances to extend the game, Coyle struck out swinging before Reginatto lined out to left to finish the job.
