Wilmington Hammerheads FC News Release

Wilmington, NC - Wilmington Hammerheads FC will host the Charleston Battery on Saturday, May 17 at Legion Stadium. The teams meet for the second time in a week following the Hammerheads 1-0 victory over the Battery at Blackbaud Stadium.

Hammerheads veteran Paul Nicholson took his team to victory with the lone goal over the Charleston Battery last weekend. The goal was essential as the Hammerheads were forced to play a man down against the Battery for the final 30 minutes of the match after Manny Aparicio was ejected for receiving a second yellow card.

After further review, the league has deemed the second yellow card as a case of mistaken identity. The yellow card was instead issued to Nicholson for the tackle and both are eligible to play in this weekend's rematch at Legion Stadium.

"We have yet to score at home this season," said Wilmington Hammerheads FC Head Coach David Irving." We have put the ball in the back of the net on the road, but we have struggled to do so at Legion. We need to change that if we want to push our way through the ranks."

The Hammerheads have the least amount of games played in the league among the other teams this season so far with five leading up to Saturday's match.

The Hammerheads will host the Pittsburgh Riverhounds at Legion Stadium soon after on Friday, May 23 as they too meet for the second time during the regular season.
