
Halifax escapes Buffalo with a two point victory

Buffalo, NY- Tony Bennett hit one of two free throws with 12 seconds to go in regulation to lift Halifax to a 96-94 victory over Buffalo. The loss for the Stampede is their 14th straight.
This was a close one from the opening tip as the visiting Rainmen were tied after one and had only a one point lead going into the intermission.
In the third, the Rainmen started to pull away going up eight at the end of three, and would go up by as many as ten just 14 seconds into the fourth quarter. Despite coming into Saturday's contest having lost 13 straight, the Stampede would not go away. The Stampede went on a 9-2 run and with 57 seconds to go were only down by two. With 15 seconds to play, Tyrone Rayson hit a long three to cut the lead to one; the Stampede were forced to foul. Bennett hit one of his two free throws and the Rainmen escaped with a one point victory.
Buffalo was led by Derrick Payne's 24; Tyrone Rayson had 23 for the Stampede. For Halifax John Strickland lead the way with 18.
