The Manchester Millrats used a key 14-0 run near the end of the third quarter that was sparked by Chicago native Al Stewart to defeat the Chicago Throwbacks 122-99 going away.

Stewart sparked a large contingent of Millrats fans, along with his own teammates, with several open court steals that led to transition baskets.

Chicago held several leads in the first half by as many as nine points, but each time Manchester rallied back. The Throwbacks led 68-62 midway through the third before the 14-0 run that put the Millrats ahead for good at 76-68. Manchester's lead swelled to 24 points in the fourth quarter on consecutive baskets by Alex Owumi.

Desmond Ferguson paced Manchester with 22 points and 6 assists. Al Stewart stuffed the stat sheet by finishing with 21 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 6 steals. Marlowe Currie tallied 18 points and 8 rebounds, while Alex Owumi scored 14. Marc Mazur had his best game since joining the squad as he had 14 points and 7 rebounds. Lincoln Glass and Sam Carey both contributed 11 apiece to round out the Millrats who finished in double figures.

Stanley Thomas led Chicago with a double-double, 25 points and 11 rebounds. Dameon Mason just missed one as he tallied 16 points and 9 rebounds.

With the victory Manchester moves to 15-4, while Chicago drops to 6-12 with the loss.

The Millrats will travel to Barre on Thursday night to take on the Vermont Frost Heaves in a Champlain Cup game at 7:05 pm.
