
Half Ends in Series Split with Storm

LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. - Just hours after clinching the first half title, the JetHawks dropped a Sunday afternoon game to the Lake Elsinore Storm, 4-2, at The Diamond.
After two scoreless innings, the Storm got on the board first against Aaron West (3-4). With two outs, Jace Peterson hit a two-run home run over the 36-foot-tall wall in right field. B.J. Guinn had extended the inning with a single on the 13th pitch of his at-bat to bring Peterson to the plate. The homer was Peterson's third of the season.
Blair Walters relieved West in the fourth inning, his first appearance since he going on the disabled list after being hit in the elbow by a line drive on May 31. Jeremy Rodriguez greeted him with a two-out double to score Kyle Gaedele from first base.
Lake Elsinore added a run in the fifth against Walters. After striking out the first two batters of the inning, Peterson hit a triple and Robert Kral followed with a single to extend the Storm's lead to 4-0.
Lancaster scored its first runs off Storm starter Trevor Holder (2-2) in the sixth inning. Ryan McCurdy reached on an infield single to start the inning, his second hit of the game, and scored on a Telvin Nash double. Preston Tucker followed with a base hit to move Nash to third base and he scored on an M.P. Cokinos ground ball.
Tucker's hit extended his hitting streak to 10 games.
Holder left the game after the sixth inning. He struck out three, walked three and allowed two runs on six hits.
Storm relievers Luis De La Cruz, Cody Hebner and Jonny Barbato set the side down in order in each of the next thre innings. Barbato finished the game to pick up his 12th save.
Cameron Lamb tossed 1 1/3 perfect innings and Tommy Shirley retired all six batters he faced out of the JetHawks bullpen.
Lancaster opens up the second half of the season on Thursday at The Hangar against the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes.
