Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC News Release
WINDSOR, Colo. - Having won three straight matches for the first time in club history, Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC will have another first on Saturday as they have their inaugural match against USL League One newcomers Lexington SC.
"They're new to the league, but they're honest in their hard work so it's going to be tough," Hailstorm FC captain Rob Cornwall said.
Lexington is currently 10th in the league table with eight points in their first nine games. However, all eight of those points have come at home as they have a pair of wins and a pair of draws in five games at Toyota Stadium.
"They've been in every single game at home, potentially could have won all their games at home," Hailstorm FC head coach Éamon Zayed said.
Zayed said Lexington's current situation is similar to the one Hailstorm faced in the early stages of their inaugural season in 2022. Northern Colorado earned 10 points in their first nine games last season.
"Like us last year, a brand new team, you have that eagerness, that hunger. They start off really strong in the first 10, 15 minutes of games," Zayed said.
The key man for Hailstorm FC in Lexington will again be forward Trevor Amann, who has scored seven goals and recorded an assist in the last four games, putting him on top of the Golden Boot race.
Kickoff in Lexington is scheduled for 5 p.m. Mountain time on Saturday.
