Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
Brandon, Manitoba - The Brandon Wheat Kings received some welcome medical news Friday morning when they learned that Assistant Coach Dwayne Gylywoychuk has returned home after spending the past nine days at the Brandon Regional Health Centre.
Gylywoychuk, who has been with the Wheat Kings for the past eight years, suffered a broken back in a fall at the Keystone Centre last week and has been receiving treatment ever since. While he has been fitted with a back brace for support, the 37-year old Winnipeg native is back on his feet and walking this week.
"I'm glad to be home and it was great to sleep in my own bed," Gylywoychuk said Friday morning. "I'm looking forward to the next step of my recovery.at home."
The franchise record holder for Most Games Played in a Wheat Kings' uniform (323), Gylywoychuk went on to thank the staff on the second floor of the RHA as well as the many friends that have visited him this past week and the fans that have taken the time to send cards and well wishes while he continues to recover.
