Gwinnett OF/2B Matt Young won his first Player of the Week award, announced today by the International League. Young won the award for the week of 6/21-6/27, as he led the IL in runs scored with 10. He also tied for the IL lead in batting average (.556), hits (15) and on-base percentage (.600).
In every game Young started last week, he notched a multi-hit performance - including three straight 3-hit games from 6/23-6/25. The Temple, TX, native has boosted his season AVG up to .306 - ninth-best on the IL leader board.
