Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
ALLEN, Texas (February 14) - Mark Guggenberger recorded the first shutout of his professional career on Tuesday night as the Brahmas topped the Americans 4-0 at the Allen Event Center.
After a scoreless first period, Brahmas captain Adam Hogg gave Texas the first lead of the game at the 2:33 mark of the second period with his 14th goal of the season. Just 1:09 later, Chad Woollard found Jacques Perreault in front of the net, and the third-year defenseman put the puck past Allen netminder Rejean Beauchemin to give the Brahmas a 2-0 lead.
The Brahmas added two more goals late in the third period, serving as insurance for Guggenberger, who was stingy between the posts. The Richfield, Minnesota native stopped all 26 shots he faced en route to his 12th win of the season and his first shutout as a professional. Guggenberger is now 12-4-3 with a .922 save percentage and a CHL-best 2.11 GAA.
Despite struggling to score on the powerplay this season, the Brahmas were able to convert on two of six opportunities against Allen on Tuesday night. Texas scored two powerplay goals for the second straight game versus the Americans.
The Brahmas look to extend their winning streak to four in a row when they face off against the Dayton Gems on Wednesday, February 15 at 7:00pm at the NYTEX Sports Centre.
