
Gronkowski named Player of the Week

Owlz first baseman Gordie Gronkowski earned Player of the Week honors in the Pioneer League for games played through the week ending July 1.
"Gronk" collected at least two hits in seven games during the week and is batting a ridiculous .471 to start the Pioneer League season.
The 24-year-old from Buffalo, New York excelled in a three-game set against Idaho Falls, as he went 10-for-13 with two home runs, two doubles, 11 RBIs and five runs scored. He knocked in six runs on Thursday to lead the Owlz to a 15-8 victory.
Gronkowski was selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the 49th round of the 2006 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft out of Jacksonville University.
He hit .282 over 13 games with the Owlz last season and sported a .404 on base percentage.
