Grizzlies Win Fifth Straight

The Gateway Grizzlies won their fifth consecutive game Monday night, blanking the Washington WildThings 7-0 in front of 3,433 at GMC Stadium. The win was the eighth in a row at home.

The win improves the Grizzlies to 38-25 on the season. The WildThings are now 37-26. The win sets a new franchise record for wins in a season. The Grizzlies were 37-44.

Scott Patterson pitched seven shutout innings, to earn his seventh win of the year. He is now 7-1 on the year. Newcomer Brian Matzenbacher pitched two perfect innings in releif, striking out one.

Jimmy Reiter was 2-4 on the night with a two-run home run, a double and three RBIs. Brad Bauder was 1-4 with a two-run home run. Kevin Matusek and Tony Coyne each had RBIs for the Grizzlies.

The Grizzlies and the WildThings will finish out the series and the homestand with a 7:05 game Tuesday at GMC Stadium.
