Fairbanks, AK. 11.13.09. Ricky Bertz, Owner and General Manager of the Fairbanks Grizzlies, announced the signing of (2) returning players for the 2010 season.
Asi Faoa - At 6'4" and 300 lbs, the former UCLA player was hard to miss last year in his first season with the Fairbanks Grizzlies. Playing on special teams, offense and defense Faoa proved invaluable with his size and versatility. Being a defensive stall worth for the Grizzlies, Faoa played in 12 regular season games for the Grizzles registering 16.5 tackles, recovering 3 fumbles, blocking 2 kicks and registering 1 safety. Offensively, Faoa carried the ball 11 times for 19 yards and scoring 2 touchdowns, while also managing 3 receptions for 17 yards.
Coach Ponder -"Asi is a great player and leader of our Defense, if you are going to build a defense he is a pretty good one to build it around."
Josh Crawford- At 6'0" and 192 lbs, Crawford returns for his second season in the IFL and with the Fairbanks Grizzlies. Crawford was a key element in the Grizzlies passing offense, playing in all 14 regular season games making 57 receptions for 531 yards, and 16 touchdowns.
Coach Ponder-"Josh has the ability to play at the next level, I would hope this year is a stepping stone for the future."
