Gateway Grizzlies News Release
The Gateway Grizzlies and manager Phil Warren have re-signed pitcher Tim Brown for the 2013 season.
A native of St. Louis, Brown anchored the Grizzlies pitching staff in 2012 and put together one of the best pitching seasons in team history. The 6-3 right-hander went 12-2 with a 2.27 ERA in 20 starts. He led the league in wins and ERA, while finishing second in innings pitched and complete games (4).
"Tim put together an outstanding 2012 season and we feel like he can be even better this season," Warren said. "He's a guy who pitches to contact, trusts his defense, gets results and gives you a chance to win every time he's on the mound."
Brown went 8-1 in his last 11 starts and did not lose at hitter-friendly GCS Ballpark in the regular season. The former Clayton, H.S. great suffered his last regular season loss on June 6th and pitched into the seventh inning in 19 of his 20 starts. Brown, who is currently pitching in Australia in the offseason, was named the Grizzlies Pitcher of the Year in 2012.
"Tim has a chance to be known as one of the best pitchers in team history if he can put together another tremendous season," Warren remarked. "I'm confident he will anchor our staff again and be one of the league's best."
The Grizzlies 2013 home opener is on May 21st when the Grizzlies take on the Joliet Slammers at GCS Ballpark. Season and group tickets are on sale now. For more information call 618.337.3000.
