August 29, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Utah Grizzlies News Release
Kearns, Utah - The Utah Grizzlies will host the Idaho Steelheads in a preseason game on Monday, October 10 at 7 p.m. at the Utah Olympic Oval.
Tickets for the game are $10 and can be purchased at The Utah Olympic Oval located at 5662 Cougar Lane in Kearns. This is the second-straight year that the Grizzlies have played a preseason contest at the Utah Olympic Oval and the fifth-straight season that the Utah Olympic Oval has been the team's practice facility.
The two teams will meet at the CenturyLink Arena in Boise the following evening on Tuesday, October 11 at 7:10 p.m. The Steelheads will not be selling tickets to the general public for the contest in Idaho.
The preseason contests will mark the first two of four games in six nights for the two rivals as the Grizzlies and Steelheads open the regular season Friday, October 14 and Saturday, October 15 at Maverik Center. Utah and Idaho have met every preseason since 2009.
With their two arenas separated by only 345 miles, the two team's success on the ice has also fueled the rivalry. Last year, Utah and Idaho finished within two points of each other in the regular season standings and just percentage points in back of division champion Colorado. Utah and Idaho also own the two longest consecutive playoff streaks in the ECHL. Utah's streak stands at nine straight playoff appearances. Idaho has qualified for the playoffs in all 13 years of ECHL play.
