The Gateway Grizzlies earned their 28th comeback win of the season Tuesday night, though they didn't trail for long. The Grizzlies plated three in the bottom of the first inning, to take a 3-2 lead, then sailed to a 12-3 win over the Slippery Rock Sliders at GCS Ballpark.
Anthony Albano hit a two-run home run in the top of the first to put Slippery Rock (21-55) up 2-0.
Mike Breyman launched his 16th homer of the year, in the bottom of the inning, a three-run shot, to put the Grizzlies up 3-2. Breyman's first inning shot marked the 26th consecutive game the Grizzlies have hit a home run.
Jonathan Armitage added a second inning grand slam to put the Grizzlies up 7-2.
Gateway (52-24) added two runs in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 9-2. Stephen Holdren picked up and RBI in the inning.
Ryan Sullivan and Dustin Roberts added to the homer parade in the fifth and sixth innings. Sullivan hit his seventh in the fifth. Roberts added his 23rd in the sixth inning. Roberts' home run tied him with current manager Phil Warren for the most homers in a single season. Warren hit 23 in 2004.
The Sliders added a final run on four hits in the eighth inning.
Nathan Roush (7-3) earned the win, going eight innings in the start. He allowed three runs on 10 hits. He struck out seven.
Sliders' pitcher Nick Tracy (1-11) suffered the loss. The 11 loses ties him for the most by a pitcher in a single season in the Frontier League.
The Grizzlies and Sliders continue the series with a 7:05 game Wednesday at GCS Ballpark.
