LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford RiverHawks made several moves before Monday night's Frontier League roster deadline.

The RiverHawks activated all-star pitcher Shaun Parker from the disabled list and released veteran outfielder Alhaji Turay. In addition, Rockford traded pitcher Justin Young and a player to be named later to the River City Rascals in exchange for catcher Andy Sweet, a resident of Belvidere and the Rascals' first-round pick in the 2008 draft.

Parker has not pitched since June 27 because of a strained left elbow. He was 5-1 and at the time, his 2.74 ERA was among the 10 best in the league. Although he was on the DL, he was voted onto the Frontier League North All-Star team. Parker has 2-year status in the Frontier League.

Turay hit .347 with four home runs and 21 RBI in 42 games.

Sweet, who played collegiately at Texas A&M, is a true rookie. He's batting .289 with three home runs and 32 RBI in 228 at-bats. Sweet, who played 27 games at catcher, has appeared at every position except shortstop, left field and pitcher.

Young had no record, no saves and a 5.68 ERA in four appearances.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 15th season. Advertising and ticket information is available by calling the box office at (815) 885-2255. Most games are broadcast live on WNTA (1330 AM) and the internet.
