Utah Grizzlies News Release
West Valley City, Utah - The Utah Grizzlies donated $141,333.77 in cash, tickets and merchandise to local non-profit organizations during the 2011-2012 season as they worked with over 200 groups.
In addition, the team's mascot Grizzbee made over 100 appearances in the community, including 48 at local elementary schools.
The team's top three games for fundraising were "Pink in the Rink" on Saturday, October 29, Angel's Hands night on Saturday, November 26, and Guns N Hoses Night on Saturday, January 28. On those nights, the Grizzlies wore specialty jerseys that were auctioned off live after the game to benefit that evening's causes; raising over $30,000 cash.
The team's school assembly program "Hockey Is A Lot Like Life" gave free game tickets to nearly 2,500 students along the Wasatch Front. In addition, nearly 1,000 tickets were donated to junior high and high school students who sang the National Anthem prior to games. The Grizzlies also donated 50 game night luxury suites to non-profit groups in 2011-2012.
