Fairbanks Grizzlies News Release
Fairbanks, AK. 12.10.09. Ricky Bertz, General Manager and owner of the Fairbanks Grizzlies, announced the signing of (2) returning players for the 2010 season.
Mike Quinn- 6'4 -265lbs, The former West Valley High School Graduate will return for his 3rd season with the Fairbanks Grizzlies this coming season. Quinn's athletic ability enabled him to serve and fill several roles for the Grizzlies during the 2009 season which saw him used as a Kicker, Offensive Lineman, Running Back, Defensive Lineman and Linebacker. Overall Quinn played in 5 games for Grizzlies last year and with more coaching and experience plans on making his contributions even bigger for 2010.
Coach Ponder on Mike Quinn-"Mike is an athletic player and gets better every year I don't think he has even touched his potential. Out of our whole team he has the highest ceiling of talent. Most players have reached that peek because they have played 4 years of College and some Pro ball. It's like he is in his Junior year of College and ready for a break out year."
Devin Robinson- 6'3"-230lb, Devin will be joining his fellow teammate for his 2nd season with Grizzlies. Robinson joined the team 4 games into the 2009 season, but made his presence felt immediately from his Linebacker position. Playing in 10 games for the Grizzlies Robinson accumulated 32 total tackles to go along with 2 sacks. Robinson's speed proved to be a valuable asset on the defensive side of the ball as he covered large chucks of real estate in to help in pass protection and run support.
Coach Ponder on Devin Robinson- "He will play a key role in our Defensive success this year. Last year we played him on the Defensive line then moved him to Strong Safety Linebacker, this year we will have him in the Linebacker and the Strong Safety Spot. He is as good moving East and West as I have seen. He is a great tackler and a positive guy in the locker room. Look for him to lead the team in tackles this year."
