Fresno Grizzlies News Release
FRESNO, CA - In late June the United States Supreme Court ruled for the first time that the 2nd Amendment explicitly protects Americans' right to own guns for self-defense. The decision put an end to several anxious weeks at Chukchansi Park during which Parker, the Fresno Grizzlies mascot, was under the false impression that the judicial branch was preparing to pass judgment on both he and his relatives.
In light of the confusion, the Grizzlies will celebrate Second Amendment Night on Friday, July 18th when they open a four-day homestand with the Salt Lake Bees at Chukchansi Park. The night will focus on the different understandings of the amendment that has guaranteed American citizens the right to bear arms.
In the first of several creative twists, the first 500 fans will receive foam Grizzlies bear claws. The same claws that reside on the ends of bear arms all over the world. Fans that purchase tickets on the day of the game while wearing sleeveless shirts will be treated to a special ticket offer. Any person who purchases tickets with "bare arms" will receive a dollar (per bare arm) off of a Field Level Reserved Ticket.
Finally, the Grizzlies have partnered with Herb Bauer Sporting Goods for a special offer tied to the traditional interpretation of the 2nd Amendment. The sporting goods store will offer free hunting safety classes to Grizzlies fans that sign up at a special location on the Chukchansi Park concourse. Additionally, one lucky fan will win a $300 gift card to Herb Bauer.
Also on July 18th, the California Highway Patrol presents a spectacular Friday Night Fireworks show following the game. The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive Orange-Out t-shirts, courtesy of Rally's. The Grizzlies will also host Red Cross Night and Health & Wellness night on Friday at Chukchansi Park.
The Fresno Grizzlies open their post-All-Star break schedule with five games in four nights against the Salt Lake Bees, Triple-A affiliate of the Salt Lake Bees. The series kicks off on Friday, July 18th with Second Amendment Night at Chukchansi Park.
