Grizzlies Announce 8 Qualifying Offers for 16-17 Season

West Valley City, Utah - Utah Grizzlies Head Coach/General Manager Tim Branham today issued qualifying offers to the maximum amount of eight players for the 2016-2017 season.

By extending the qualifying offers, the Grizzlies will retain the ECHL contract rights to the eight players below for the upcoming season.

Forwards

-Barry Almeida: 29 goals and 19 assists for 48 points in 57 games with Utah in 2015-2016. Has signed in Italy for upcoming season.

-C.J. Eick: Played in all 10 playoff games (one goal, one assist) and final seven regular season games (two assists) after signing with Utah out of Michigan Tech in March.

-Alex Gallant: Signed with San Jose Sharks organization during call-up from Utah last year.

-Erik Higby: 15 goals and 18 assists for 33 points in 74 total games with Utah last year.

Defenseman

-Marc Cantin: Voted Grizzlies best defenseman in 2015-2016. Three goals, five assists eight points in 10 playoff games.

-Connor Hardowa: Leads Grizzlies defensemen with 98 regular season games played last two seasons with eight goals and 26 assists and has appeared in 19 playoff games the last two seasons.

-Phil Pietroniro: Voted Grizzlies Most Improved Player during second half of rookie season.

-Shayne Taker: Grizzlies assistant captain in 2015-2016, played in 60 regular season games and called up to Ducks AHL affiliate in San Diego twice.

Players under contract with the Grizzlies NHL affiliate in Anaheim are not eligible to receive qualifying offers.

The Grizzlies open the season Friday, October 14 and Saturday, October 15 when they will host Idaho at Maverik Center.
