Grizzlies Add to 2010 Roster

Fairbanks, AK. 2.12.10. Ricky Bertz, General Manager and owner of the Fairbanks Grizzlies, and Head Coach Sean Ponder announced the latest team additions to the Grizzlies 2010 Roster.

Nick Marshman- OL- 6'5"- 345lb - The Virginia Tech graduate joins the Grizzlies roster for the 1st time, and comes to the team with high expectations. As a Hokie, Marshman helped lead his team to back to back ACC titles, and an appearance in the Orange Bowl against Kansas. Marshman's decision to come play for the Grizzlies was due in part because of the Coaching Staff, but in addition to fulfilling his lifelong dream of coming to Alaska.

Lonnie Sanders-WR- 6'4"-220lbs- Sanders returns to the Grizzlies for his 2nd season with the team. As a finalist for league MVP last season, Sanders lead the team in yards (891) and touchdowns (23), in addition to being 2nd on the team with receptions (67). Part of Sanders decision to return, was due to the fact that he felt the team feel short of it's goals and expectations last season, but is determined to not let that happen for 2010.

Teale Orban- QB-6'2"- 220lbs- Orban joins the Grizzlies for his first season, and the first Canadian player in the team's history. Orban played college football at the University of Regina, where he was twice a finalist for the Hec Crighton award which is the equivalent to the Heisman Trophy in Canada. While at the University of Regina, Orban was twice selected as the Canada West Outstanding Student Athlete in 2007 & 2008, in addition to being the Canada West player of the year for 2006 & 2007. Orban appeared in three All-star games for the West Team from 2006-2008, in addition to be select to the CIS all 1st team. Following Orban's senior season, he was drafted in the 6th round of the CFL league draft by the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Vaughn Lesuma- OL-6'5" - 335lbs-Lesuma joins the Grizzlies after playing college football at Washington State University starting his junior and senior seasons. Shortly after college, Lesuma's football career took him to the CFL where he was in camp with BC Lions.

The Fairbanks Grizzlies office would like to remind fans that tickets for the teams first ever home exhibition game are available to purchase at the Grizzlies office, The Carlson Center, or any other ticket master outlet. The game is scheduled to be played on Monday, February 22nd at 7:00pm against the Alaska Wild. All tickets have a special discounted price, where one ticket is purchased at regular price and the 2nd ticket is just one dollar.
