Grand Rapids Griffins News Release
Grand Rapids, Mich. - In what has become nearly an annual playoff tradition, the Grand Rapids Griffins will continue their quest for the American Hockey League's Calder Cup against the defending champion Chicago Wolves in the best-of-seven Western Conference semifinals.
With a 3-2 road win on Monday, the top-seeded Griffins defeated the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins three games to one in the conference quarterfinals. The fourth-seeded Wolves, meanwhile, claimed a 3-2 overtime win tonight against the Hershey Bears in that series' decisive fifth game in Chicago. Games 1 and 2 of the conference semifinals will be staged at Van Andel Arena next Monday, April 28 and Tuesday, April 29, before the series shifts to the Allstate Arena for Games 3 and 4.
