Griffins add defenseman Nic Bilotto

Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League on Saturday signed defenseman Nic Bilotto (NICK bih-LAH-toe) to a standard player contract.

Bilotto, 25, played 18 games for the Springfield Falcons of the AHL tallying 12 points (4-8-12) and 32 penalty minutes. He also played 49 games this season for the Charlotte Checkers of the ECHL, amassing 28 points (7-21-28) and 66 penalty minutes. Last night, he scored a goal for the Mississippi Sea Wolves of the ECHL.

Bilotto spent part of the training camp this season with the Griffins, before being released on Oct. 1. He has played in 34 AHL contests, showing 13 points (5-8-13) and 46 penalty minutes. Bilotto was drafted as St. Louis Blues' fifth selection, 149th overall, in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.

The native of Montreal, Quebec is expected to be available when the Griffins finish their season series with the Utah Grizzlies tonight at 9:05 at the E Center.
