Greenville, SC - Behind Nicholas Northcut's first-inning grand slam, the Greenville Drive cruised to a 5-1 triumph over the Rome Braves Saturday night at Fluor Field. The Drive extend their series lead to 4-1, claiming the series win.

Greenville reliever Ryan Zeferjahn (2-0) earned the win for the Drive after 2.0 innings of work. He did not allow a run nor a hit, surrendering three walks but striking out two.

Rome starter Royber Salinas (0-1) suffered the loss after allowing four runs on one hit and three walks in just 0.2 innings.

Nicholas Northcut powered the Drive offense with his grand slam, notching all four of his RBI on his 12th homer of the season. Stephen Scott was the most consistent batter, reaching base all four times he stepped up to the plate. Scott worked three walks and added a double. All three Drive hits went for extra-bases, with the third of the hits being an RBI triple off the bat of Tyler McDonough.

Greenville struck first quickly and with authority in the bottom of the first. After three walks loaded the bases, Nicholas Nortchut unloaded on a pitch, launching a massive grand slam to left center for the early 4-0 advantage.

The Drive added to their total in the fourth. Stephen Scott worked a walk to reach base, and Tyler McDonough tripled down the right field line to bring Scott home. The lead was 5-0 after four.

Rome finally broke onto the scoreboard in the top of the seventh. A deep sacrifice fly plated a run to make the score 5-1.

Rome would get a runner on base in the top of the ninth, but Cody Scroggins clamped down on the mound to lock in the 5-1 Drive victory.

Greenville and Rome will conclude their six-game series tomorrow afternoon with a 3:05 p.m. scheduled first pitch.
