Greenville Keeps Groovin' In Victory Over Asheville

Greenville, SC – Billy Thomas had an outstanding night with 18 points and 38 minutes in the Groove's 75-70 victory over the Asheville Altitude. With their third straight win the Greenville advances to 3-4, while Asheville falls to 3-3.

Kevin Lyde had an impressive double-double, grabbing 13 points and 12 rebounds. The 6-10 forward went 6-11 and had 2 assist. Brandon Kurtz had 14 points and 9 rebounds to add to the Groove attack. Greg Jones also had 13 points and 2 assist.

Asheville was led by shooting guard Jeff Trepagnier; he had 23 points and 4 rebounds. Larry Abney led the team in rebounding with 9 rebounds.

Both teams shot 37 percent from the field, Asheville going 23-62 and Greenville was 27-73. Second chance points and points in the paint where big factors tonight. Greenville led both categories, second chance points 18-8 and points in the paint 28-18.

The Groove will face Huntsville on Friday afternoon at 2:00 pm. The Flight are ranked 2nd in the league with a 3-1 record. The teams faced off earlier in the month; Greenville was victorious the November 11th preseason match-up 73-64.
