Greenville Grrrowl News Release

GREENVILLE, SC – The East Coast Hockey League's 2002 Kelly Cup Champion Greenville Grrrowl have announced the trade of defenseman Simon Tremblay to the Reading Royals. The Grrrowl acquired Tremblay from Reading at the ECHL's 2001-2002 trade deadline in exchange for defenseman Kevin Bergin, left wing Jason Windle and future considerations. The future considerations turned out to be right wing Alexandre Jacques, as well as the return of Tremblay to the Royals. The Grrrowl acquired Jacques earlier this offseason as part of a multi-player, multi-team transaction.

Tremblay had 11 goals, 37 assists, 48 points and 132 penalty minutes in 65 regular-season games last year including one goal, five assists, six points and 24 penalty minutes in nine games with the Grrrowl. The Beauport, Quebec native had three goals, seven assists, ten points and eight penalty minutes and was +5 in 13 playoff games during the Grrrowl march to the Kelly Cup Championship. Tremblay scored the third-period tying goal and then assisted on Simon Gamache's series-winning goal with :35.89 left to play in the fifth-and-deciding game of the first round versus the Florida Everblades. He also represented Reading at the ECHL All-Star Game in Trenton, New Jersey in January and was named one of the defensemen on the All-ECHL second team.

2002-2003 Greenville Grrrowl season tickets, mini-plans and flex packs are on sale now. Fans can call 864-467-GRRR or log on to grrrowl.com for more information.
