Greenville Falls To Asheville, With Two New Players

Greenville, SC - The Greenville Groove fell to the Asheville Altitude 83-80 in Saturday afternoon basketball action at the BI-LO Center. With the loss, Greenville falls to 13-12, while Asheville improves to 10-16.

Billy Thomas was named the player-of-the-game, scoring 23 points in 34 minutes. Fred Williams (15 points), Jeff Myers (11 points), and Greg Jones (10 points) also contributed double figures to the Groove?s attempt to top the Altitude.

Jeff Trepagnier led the Altitude with 29 points and nine rebounds. Eddie Gill (19 points), Larry Abney (13 points), and Ron Rollerson (10 points) added double-figures to the Altitude victory.

Asheville went on a 20-16 run in the fourth quarter to advance to 10-16 in NBDL play. Asheville shot 67 percent from the three-point arc to Greenville?s 37 percent. There were four lead changes in the game, as well as four tied moments.

The Groove will travel to Roanoke tomorrow to face the Dazzle at 4:00 PM at the Roanoke Civic Center. The Dazzle is currently on a five game winning streak, and have moved up into third place in league standings. Roanoke is 5-6 at home, while Greenville is 4-6 on the road.
