Huntsville Flight News Release
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (Jan. 18) â A NBDL record crowd of 6,583 saw Rodney Bias score 15 points and add 10 rebounds to lead the Huntsville Flight to a 94-87 victory over the North Charleston Lowgators here Saturday night at the Von Braun Center.
The Flight (14-13) snapped a four-game losing streak as Brandon Williams added 15 points for Huntsville, while Eric Chenowith tallied 12, along with 10 each from Lonnie Harrell, Jermaine Walker and Demetric Shaw.
" It was a good win for the team tonight," Flight coach Ralph Lewis said. "Obviously we were frustrated with the losing streak we were on, but tonight we came out and gave a collective effort. It was great to play as well as we did and get a win in front of a hometown crowd."
The Flight trailed 59-55 as Sedric Webber hit two of his game-high 24 points on a layup to put North Charleston (13-13) up with 4:19 left in the third quarter. Webber was one of five Lowgators in double figures as Tierre Brown collected 20 points, while Peter Cornell added 14, Ime Udoka 11 and Corey Benjamin 10.
The Flight then scored the next five points over a minute span to take a 60-59 advantage, capped by a Williams dunk, as the teams exchanged leads two more times before the Flight took a 67-66 margin after three quarters.
The fourth quarter saw the Flight score the first eight points of the final period as the Lowgators could not cut the gap to less than five down the stretch.
"I'm really proud of the way my guys battled back tonight," North Charleston coach Doug Marty said. "But we came out and played a great 3rd quarter and they just took over the first two to three minutes in the 4th and that did us in."
