Greenville Adds Tory Walker

GREENVILE, S.C. (January 18, 2003) - The Greenville Groove of the National Basketball Development League acquired forward Tory Walker, according to an announcement by NBDL Executive Director Karl Hicks and Groove Head Coach Tree Rollins.

Walker, 6-foot-8 and 188 pounds, was expected to play in Greenville's game Saturday against the Asheville Altitude. To make room on the roster, the Groove released point guard John Linehan.

Walker was in training camp with Greenville, but was released prior to the start of the season. He played for KK Pivovarna Lasko in Slovenia in 2001-02, averaging 16.0 points and 4.7 rebounds in 23 games. Walker also played with the Kansas Cagerz in the USBL in 2001, averaging 10.8 points and 4.7 rebounds in 13 games.

He finished his collegiate career tied for fifth on the all-time scoring list at New Orleans with 1,358 points and is the only UNO player to make 100 or more three-pointers and block 100 or more shots.

Linehan played in 19 games for the Groove (no starts). He averaged 2.1 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game over 11.4 minutes per outing.
