GreenJackets Drop Close Game in Extras

Hickory, NC: The Augusta GreenJackets, South Atlantic League affiliate of San Francisco Giants, lost 4-3 in 11 innings to the Hickory Crawdads on Monday night.

Making a rehab appearance for the Crawdads was Texas Rangers starting pitcher Martin Perez. He looked in peak form, going five innings only allowing two hits. With the strong performance from Perez, the Crawdads had a 2-0 lead until the eighth inning.

With two outs in the inning, the GreenJackets made a big comeback. Tyler Brown and Heliot Ramos both got on with singles. Then Manuel Geraldo hit a bases clearing double to tie the game at two. With Geraldo on at second, Jacob Gonzalez single into left field gave the GreenJackets a 3-2 lead.

Sam Huff solo home run in the bottom of the eighth would tie the game at three. That would remain the score until the bottom of the inning when Bubba Thompson walked it off for the Crawdads.

It will be a quick turnaround for the GreenJackets as game three of the series in Hickory will be at noon tomorrow.

Starting on Wednesday June 27th , the GreenJackets will be welcoming the Greenville Drive to SRP Park. That night will be having First Responders Night. On the 28th, will have Tap Takeover Night and Thirsty Thursday. Friday the 29th will have Art in the Park as we celebrate.

On the 30th, the GreenJackets will welcome the Columbia Fireflires to town for a four game series. On Saturday June 30th, will have James Brown and Sharron Jones appreciation night. July 1st will have Hot Cars/ Hot Rods Car & Motor Show. On the 2nd, Mr./Ms. Most American Pageant/Celebration will be held at SRP Park. To wrap up the homestand, will have an Independence Day bash followed by a Fireworks Extravaganza.
