Charleston, SC - The Charleston RiverDogs turned five double plays to vex the Augusta GreenJackets, taking away a 3-2 decision from the Jackets on Friday night at Joseph P. Riley Park.

With the win, the RiverDogs have now claimed victory in nine of their last 11 contests against the GreenJackets. For the first time in the series, Charleston struck first with a pair of runs in the second inning. Kelvin Castro hit a two-out bouncer to the mound that deflected off Brian Irving for an infield single to put the Dogs up a run. Slade Heathcott followed with a run-scoring hit to grow the Charleston lead to two.

Augusta bounced back with a run in the fourth in an inning that saw Ryan Cavan walk to open the frame. He took second on a groundout, third on a wild pitch and scored when Chris Dominguez's grounder was thrown away by RiverDogs third baseman Hector Rabago to cut Charleston's lead in half.

Former South Carolina Gamecock DeAngelo Mack struck what turned out to be the decisive blow off Irving to lead off the fifth, with a solo home run off the batters' eye in center to push the lead back to two. Irving (5-3) departed after the fifth, allowing three runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out five.

The key juncture in the game for Augusta came in the eighth inning. After Daniel Cook reached on an error, Hector Sanchez doubled and Ydwin Villegas' grounder to second was booted to become the second error of the inning. Cook scored on the error, which left Villegas at first and sent pinch runner Juan Martinez to third in a one-run game. Evan Crawford hit a double-play ball to second but when Kelvin Castro's throw to first was deflected, the double play was awarded on an interference call that also sent Martinez back to third instead of scoring the tying run. Cavan struck out to end the inning and what would be Augusta's final threat. True to form, the Jacket bounced into a double play to end the game.

Charleston's Josh Romanski (5-2) earned his second win of the year against the GreenJackets with a solid seven-inning stint. He allowed a run on three this and a walk while striking out three.

The GreenJackets will try to avoid falling in four of the five games in Charleston by sending Chris Heston (3-10, 4.66) to the mound to face Sean Black (4-6, 4.83). First pitch from Charleston will come at 5:05 p.m. with the pregame action beginning at 4:50 p.m. on WRDW AM 1630, www.greenjacketsbaseball.com and www.wrdwam.com.
