Augusta GreenJackets News Release
Asheville, NC: The Augusta GreenJackets, South Atlantic League affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, lost 10-9 to the Asheville Tourists on Tuesday night. There were a combined 30 hits in the game.
In the first inning, the Tourists struck early to take a 3-0 lead. That would not last long, as the GreenJackets would respond with five runs in the second inning. It was team effort as the runs were scored on six hits from Augusta. Five of those hits were singles, one was a double. The GreenJackets were up 5-3 after two innings.
In the third inning, the GreenJackets picked up right were they left off in the second. They put up two more runs after Ryan Kirby scored on the second double of the night by Orlando Garcia. Then Jeffry Parra would knock in Garcia with a sacrifice fly to give the GreenJackets their second run of the inning. After three innings, the GreenJackets led 7-3.
After the third inning, the Tourists started their comeback. They would put two runs up in the fourth inning, followed by three runs in the fifth. The Tourist would tack on another in the sixth inning to pull ahead 9-7.
This wouldn't be the end of the scoring for the night. Both the GreenJackets and Tourists would put up runs in the seventh inning. The GreenJackets would not go away easy, after putting up one run in the eighth inning, but in the end it wouldn't be enough. The Tourist won the finale 10-9.
The GreenJackets will be back in action on Friday for a doubleheader with the Intimidators starting at 5:35 pm.
After the seven game road trip, the GreenJackets will once again be home against the Intimidators. Promotions include our last Thirsty Thursday, along with College Football night. Friday we will have an Auggie Bobblehead giveaway for the first 1,000 fans. Saturday we will have a fireworks show and our SweetWater 90s themed jersey. Then to end the series on Sunday, we will have Bark in the Park!
