Gamblers Continue Dominance at Home...

The Gamblers defeated the Tri-City Storm 8-1 this past weekend at the Resch Center and improve to an impressive 23-5-1 this season.

Previous Gamblers Goalie Adam Wilcox return to Green Bay was short lived after being pulled for Pheonix Copley midway through the second period after giving up 4 consecutive goals. Wilcox was traded early this season to the Storm for the teams first round draft pick.

Sam Herr scored back to back goals and added an assist tonight. The first goal was scored in the second period and was assisted by Alex Broadhurst. Herr scored his second on the powerplay to give the Gamblers 4-0 lead.

"We know were the better team going into the game," Sam Herr said, "We try to get the first goal every game to break down the other team's confidence."

Nicholas Schilkey had a 3 point night scoring a pair of goals tonight in the victory and adding an assist. The Ohio State recruit scored his first goal on the powerplay in the second period, and the final goal of the night in the third period. Schilkey now has 9 goals this season for the Gamblers.

Alex Kile also scored on the powerplay for the Gamblers. The second best scoring powerplay in the league was 3 for 4 tonight.

Forward Nolan LaPorte scored his team leading 18th goal of the season to put the Gamblers on the board.

Defenseman Andy Welinski added a goal in the first period from the top of the blue line on his 8th tally of the season assisted by forward Alex Broadhurst. Welinski is tied with teammate Jordan Schmaltz for the USHL lead for goals by a defenseman.

Sheldon Dries also scored for the Gamblers in the 8-1 victory. Dries goal was scored at the 17:55 mark of the second period.

Michael Rotolo was great in between the pipes with 22 saves on 23 shots on goal. Rotolo is now 5-1 in the absence of injured goaltender Ryan McKay.

Head Coach Derek Lalonde said, "Were playing the game right and things are going well for us."

Three Gamblers Ranked in Midseason NHL Draft Rankings...

Jordan Schmaltz, Alex Kile and Dakota Mermis cracked the top 100 in the midseason NHL Draft Rankings. The gamblers skaters are 3 of 42 USHL skaters in the midseason rankings. Schmaltz currently leads the USHL in scoring for a defenseman tallying 9 goals and 10 assists. Mermis is highly touted and will play his collegiate hockey at the university of Denver. Mermis this season has scored 4 goals and 9 assists. Kile with his linemates have been successful as a third line for the Gamblers. Kile currently has 7 goals 8 assists with a plus/minus rating of plus 15.

This week Sam Herr has been named CCM Offensive Player of the Week...

Herr scored six points (5g, 1a) and recorded a plus-six rating to lead the Gamblers to a pair of wins. He scored a pair of goals in a span of 1:15 during the second period of Friday's 8-1 win over Tri-City. The 19-year-old then recorded a goal in each period of the 7-1 victory against Chicago on Sunday to record his first USHL hat trick. Herr fired a game high eight shots on goal during his third straight multi-point game. The native of Hinsdale, Illinois is tied for eighth overall in USHL scoring with 30 points (13g, 17a) and is tied for third in the League with a plus-19 rating through 26 games this season.

Goaltender Mike Rotolo has been named Reebok USHL Goaltender of the Week...

Rotolo posted a 1.00 goals-against-average and a .958 save percentage in two victories for the Gamblers. He stopped 22 shots in the 8-1 win against Tri-City on Friday. The 18-year-old from Rochester, New York then made 24 saves in the 7-1 victory over Chicago on Sunday. It was his third straight game allowing just one goal. Rotolo has posted an impressive 6-1-0 record in seven starts over the last month and has a 2.01 GAA and .932 SV% thus far in his rookie USHL season.

Gamblers Strike With the Man Advantage...

The Green Bay Gamblers have been lethal on the powerplay in their last three games. The team has scored 7 goals in 11 total advantages outscoring their oponents 25-3 in three straight victories. Currently the Gamblers have scored 34 goals this season on the powerplay which is unmatched by any team. The Team ranks 2nd only to the Indiana Ice in percentage at 26.15%.

The next Gamblers Fan Bus Trip is Saturday, January 28 to Chicago to see the Gamblers take on the Chicago Steel. Cost is $40.00 for Fan Club members, $55.00 for non-members.
