
Green Bay defeats Bombers

The Bullfrogs defeated the Battle Creek Bombers by a score of 3-1 on Thursday night in game one of a three game series at Joannes Stadium.
Green Bay struck first in the first inning with a bit of small ball. After Billy Moon led off the inning on an single, Brooks Orton reached on a fielder's choice, advanced to third base on two wild pitches, and then scored on a Clayton Eslick RBI groundout.
The Bombers tied it up at 1-1 in the second inning when Colin Willis hit his first home run of the season, a solo shot to right field off of Green Bay starter Taylor Black.
The Bullfrogs tied it up right away in the bottom of the second with a home run of their own. Jason McMurray hit a solo home run in the bottom of the second to give Green Bay the lead for good. It was his first home run of the 2012 Northwoods League season.
McMurray scored again in the fourth inning. With two down, he singled, advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored on a Collin Shaw single to give Green Bay a 3-1 lead. Both teams were scoreless from that point on.
Taylor Black (3-0) earned the victory for the Bullfrogs. He went six innings and gave up just one earned run while striking out four Bomber batters. He was relieved by Robb Woodcock who threw a scoreless seventh. Alex Abrams earned his first save of the year for Green Bay. He pitched a scoreless eighth and a scoreless ninth.
The Bullfrogs have now won 10 out of their last 11, and remain three games back of LaCrosse for first place with six games remaining in the first half of the season.
