Green Bay Blizzard Look to Make Most out of Bye Week

Green Bay Blizzard News Release
Green Bay, WI - As the 2014 IFL season nears its midway point, players on the Green Bay Blizzard football team are enjoying their current bye week for two reasons. First, it gives them an opportunity to relax and recharge after playing four of their last five games on the road. Additionally, the team believes this could be a pivotal turning point for the season.
"The bye week is really a great time for us to try to relax, recharge, and just get away from football for a little bit," said first-year wide receiver Allen Daniels. "We still workout and watch tape, but it's a nice opportunity for us to get back to real life for a bit."
Resting, relaxing, and recharging are the main focuses of many of the players this week, as the games and traveling have taken their toll on players' bodies. Many players use their time off to catch up on sleep, watch movies, and participate in workouts to get their bodies feeling better. Offensive lineman Kris Cavitt has taken some yoga courses to get back in sync.
"I've been doing yoga since college," said Cavitt. "It's just a really good way for me to get my body feeling better and help myself recharge."
Even though the players are enjoying a short break from their typically busy schedules, there's no question that they understand there is a lot of work to be done before their next game.
"Obviously the season hasn't started the way any of us wanted," said offensive lineman William Maxwell Jr. "We have so much talent and we're so close to getting over that hump, hopefully we can do that this week."
The Blizzard will be looking to come out strong in the next portion of their season, and the team's slow start has provided extra motivation for the players. The team is already looking forward to getting back to practice and improving.
"Coach (Head Coach Chad Baldwin) has stressed consistency and making the most of opportunities, which I expect will be a big theme in practice this week," said Daniels. "We've had a lot of good opportunities and shown teams what we can do; we just need to do it consistently."
Many of the players share this sentiment and feel that the second half of the season will be a different story.
"We've been improving every game and every practice, so I expect there to be a big turnaround coming up," said Cavitt.
"I'm looking forward to putting everything together this week," said Maxwell. "I definitely expect us to turn some heads in the second half of the season."
The Green Bay Blizzard will return to IFL action against the Sioux Falls Storm on Saturday, April 12. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Aurora Baycare Field at the Resch Center in Green Bay,WI.
