Rapid City Rush News Release

(Allen, TX) - In the final game of a weekend set between the Rapid City Rush and the Allen Americans on Saturday night, Bruce Graham potted a trio of goals to lead the Americans to a 6-1 win and weekend sweep. The teams combined for five powerplay goals, including a 4-for-8 effort by the Americans. The Rush now head home for three games against the Evansville IceMen next week. Tickets are still available for all three contests.

The Rush and Americans poured in four powerplay goals in the first period, beginning with Bruce Graham's first of the game at 5:48. Four minutes later, Konrad Reeder tied the game for the Rush, converting on a pass from Scott Wray with a shot from the low slot. The Americans then took a commanding two-goal lead with a pair of goals on back-to-back powerplay chances in the final 1:17. After Trevor Hendrikx shot from the point beat Tim Boron through a screen, Colton Yellow Horn gave the Americans a 3-1 advantage, poking in a rebound with just seven seconds remaining.

Graham netted the only goal of the second period, capitalizing on a breakaway and snapping a shot over the blocker of Danny Battochio who replaced Boron during the intermission.

Allen's leading goal scorer completed the hat trick just thirty-seven seconds into the third, another powerplay goal, this one set up by Keith Johnson. Finally, Jim McKenzie collected an even strength goal, breaking in alone on Battochio and beating the goaltender with a backhand under the bar, giving the Americans the 6-1 decision.
