
Grachev Assigned; Fairchild Recalled

St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club has assigned forward Evgeny Grachev to the Blues' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen. In addition, the club recalled defenseman Cade Fairchild from Peoria.
Also, Rivermen General Manager Kevin McDonald has announced that defenseman Maury Edwards has been released from his professional tryout contract.
Grachev, 21, has dressed in 24 games for the Blues this season posting four points including a goal and three assists in addition to making three appearances for the Rivermen.
Last season, he spent the majority of the season with the AHL's Hartford Wolfpack/Connecticut Whale and recorded 38 points (16 goals, 22 assists) in 73 games. In two seasons in Hartford, the 6'4", 224-pound forward played in 153 games, and accumulated 66 points (28 goals, 38 assists) along with 38 penalty minutes. The Khabarovsk, Russia native was acquired by the Blues from the New York Rangers in exchange for a third round draft choice in 2011 (Steven Fogarty) on June 25, 2011.
Fairchild, 22, has dressed in five games for the Blues this season in addition to making 32 appearances for the Rivermen posting 17 points (three goals, 14 assists) and an AHL leading +21 rating. He was named to the AHL All-Star Team on Jan. 9. The Duluth, Minnesota native was drafted by the Blues in the fourth round, 96th overall, of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
Edwards, 24, played in three games for Peoria but only one during his most recent stint (Dec. 26). In 21 games for the ECHL Cylcones, he has 10 points (three goals, seven assists) and six penalty minutes to accompany a plus-4 rating.
